Gorgeous cake, but beware - there was more brandy in there than anything.
My Austrian Oma turned 90 on 30 December and there was no way we would've missed that! So, we got back from South Africa on Tuesday, went to work on Wednesday and Thursday, boarded the train for a 7-hour ride on Thursday evening and went to Oma's birthday party on Friday. (On Saturday Mom & I drove to Munich for New Year's before I returned to Vienna on Monday).
The party was neat and we had a lot of fun with the family. It was great to see everyone again after quite a long time. My two cousins made a little memory book for Oma with all kinds of photos of her when she was young, of her wedding, the kids, the grandkids, the great-grandkids, it was totally awesome. On one page they used the real love letter my Opa sent her before they got married as a background. You couldn't read it all but one line said ... bis du endlich die meine wirst: ...until you become mine at last. Sigh!
Handshake with the Chimney Sweeper.

Serious discussions while my mom is watching...

The "end of the evening crowd", right before we had to go dig out our car from the snow.
